Which CCTV system do I need?

A plain-English starting point. Every property is different, so we always finish with a free site survey and a fixed written quote.

Start with your situation

A family home

Most homes need cameras on the routes people actually use: the front door, the drive and the back of the house. A video doorbell often makes sense alongside them.

Build a CCTV package

A shop or office

Think about entrances, tills, stock and staff-only areas. If people's faces will be recorded, you also have data protection duties, so signs and sensible camera positions matter.

CCTV installation

A yard, farm or large site

Long distances, vehicles and poor lighting call for different equipment. PTZ cameras, number plate recognition and a stronger network may be worth considering.

Upgrades, ANPR and PTZ

You already have CCTV

You may not need to start again. Existing cabling or cameras can sometimes be reused, and a service can bring back a poor picture.

Repairs and maintenance

You're worried about the recorder

If footage is only stored on site, a stolen or damaged recorder can take it away. Cloud backup keeps a copy somewhere else. A subscription applies.

Cloud CCTV backup

Your system has stopped working

Offline cameras, no recordings or an app that won't connect? An engineer can find the fault. Call-outs start from £250 without a maintenance contract.

Questions worth answering first

Ask yourselfWhy it matters
What do I want to see or prove?Spotting that someone is there needs less detail than recognising a face or reading a number plate.
Where do people and vehicles come in?A few well-placed cameras usually do more than many badly placed ones.
What is the lighting like at night? It affects which cameras suit the spot and where they should go.
How long do I need to keep footage? This decides the size of the recorder's storage, and whether cloud backup is useful.
Who needs to view it?We can set up viewing on your phone and show you how to find and save a clip.
Could the cameras see beyond my property?Cameras should be aimed to respect neighbours and passers-by. We'll help you position them sensibly.

After it's installed
